These are harsh, spectacular environments where wild winds whip over the ridge lines, cloud dramatically lifts and falls, concealing all from view, then clearing into hushed moments of marvel.
Clare Reilly
Since her first exhibition in Wellington, 1976 - Clare’s painting career has spanned four decades - her distinctive art works are dream-like scenes of beautiful landscapes, usually scattered with the native flora and fauna of Aotearoa. Now based in Blueskin Bay, in the North of Dunedin - working from a studio encased in native bush, Clare’s inspirations are easy to see in her works, the abundance of native birds that visit her garden come from a nearby eco-sanctuary, and throughout her work birds in flight are used as symbols of joy, hope and renewal.
