Abbey Merson

Abbey is a painter from Hastings, New Zealand, known for her love of florals, landscapes, and vibrant colours. After a long career as a picture framer, she decided to pursue painting full time in 2018. Her studio is filled with an explosion of art supplies, paintings, and treasures. Painting is Abbey's form of escapism, allowing her to make sense of the world and revisit memorable moments from her childhood. Her art often begins with a foraged flower or a treasure gifted by a friend, before intuitively taking on a life of its own. Abbey is devoted to making the ordinary world extraordinary through beautiful pieces that make you stop for a moment and smile.
