Metal Bird - Pīwakawaka and Baby - Regular

What's not to love about these cuties? Metal Bird's tribute to the Pīwakawaka's ability to pop out five clutches of eggs in a single season ! Thankfully, both parents share the chick-rearing duties, as baby fantails expect a feed every 10 minutes - that's 100 times a day! Being one of our smallest native birds, the team have recreated these Pīwakawaka a little bigger than life-sized. All the better for you to gaze up at them and smile, every single day.

Measurements: 27.5 x 24.5 cm

Easily installed with the tap of a hammer (tip - pre-drill hard wood !), Crafted in 3mm Corten® 'weathering' Steel to form a beautiful patina that changes with the seasons .

Metal Bird by Phil Walters

Metalbird is the brainchild of Phil Walters, an industrial designer and lover of street art and New Zealand’s native flora and fauna. Metalbird started as a guerrilla street art project, all over New Zealand’s North Island, Metalbird stencils appeared. In parks, in fences and on power poles. His handcrafted artworks bring together his passions: the tough steel and stencil design, a nod to his urban art roots. "Our designs represent some of New Zealand’s most precious birdlife. Art isn’t just something you see on a gallery wall – it can be the way the light shines through a coloured window or the splash of spray-paint on a city overpass."
