Hayley King is the lady behind Flox, making her mark on the inner cityscape of Auckland since 2003 - as an aerosol and stencil artist with a fine art degree. Her trademark native birds, ferns and flowers are a celebration of Aotearoa’s environmental taonga (treasures) and her works are always vibrant and confident in colour. Hayley's intricately hand-cut stencils are what set her apart from the rest, making her work so instantly recognisable! With a philosophy deeply ingrained in the value of the hand-made, her processes pay homage to the craft of the cut – what she refers to as her Labour of Love. Since 2015 Flox has focused on honing new ideas, exploring other cultures and pushing her own artistic boundaries. Hayley’s works have quickly expanded from prints, murals, live painting and even workshops for schools and the public, as well as being involved in numerous collaborations, charity work and exhibitions - all of which making her one of Aotearoa’s most recognised contemporary artists.
