Miranda Brown 

Originally from the South Island - where the wild and fresh landscapes first inspired her, Miranda has always been creating - whether it be sewing, gardening, crafting. Mum and Grandma taught her to sew and it continued from there, on to Otago University and a degree in Textile Science. Next came the film industry, creating fabrics and costumes for Xena, Hercules and Lord of the Rings! Launching her own label in 2002, the illustrations Miranda created for her fashion brand became the hallmark for her visual arts journey. Miranda creates illustrations and symbols that tell a story and reflect our cultural and natural heritage - “I am deeply inspired by nature and our co-creative relationship with life”.
