Ira Mitchell
Born in Queenstown - artist Ira Mitchell is a nomad by nature, she moves constantly to create images in locations that inspire her. Each of her pieces are a series of facades - walls of solid colour filling the space. “My work is autobiographical, bright, bold with visible brush strokes. I paint about my life, struggles, highs and lows”. Wanting to know what lay beyond, the mountains and her country, it took an earthquake and turning 40 to get her travelling and working full time as an artist and tutor. Ira is a trained teacher and BFA graduate, as well as an artist-educator for GOLDEN paints of New York, where she travels annually to train and show.
