According to Māori legend, a Fish Hook/Hei Matau made from Whale Bone was used to haul up the North Island of New Zealand. The hook represents strength, determination and leadership.  It brings peace, prosperity and good luck to the wearer.

Established in 1962, it was one of the leading pounamu carving and manufacturing companies in Aotearoa, working in both retail and wholesale markets. Westland has its roots firmly planted in Hokitika - situated on the stunning, rugged West Coast. And while the company has changed hands over the years, they are proud to be 100% NZ owned and operated. Today owned by John Greaney - John has a long standing love of pounamu and the magic of the stone. Working with a team of skilled carvers, each piece is lovingly crafted by hand from genuine New Zealand pounamu, as certified by Ngai Tahu and each piece comes with a certificate of authentication. The carvers often say that the stone guides them with its energy and spirit, and they take immense pride in their mahi, working with the stone to craft and carve each piece to perfection.
