Anna Evans

Born in the UK, but moving to Aotearoa as a child - Anna’s earliest memories are reflected in her artworks - from the rainy landscapes of England, to the sub tropical settings of Auckland. Anna graduated from Elam School of Fine Arts in 2004, specialising in Painting and going onto work extensively in the arts with kids since 2002 - from working with the Ministry of Education ‘Artist in Schools’ initiative, to working on large scale mural projects for community areas.
Anna’s work focuses largely around the landscapes she grew up around; the turquoise waters of the Okura marine reserve, the hazy tones of dusk and dawn that bring to life the voices of her favourite birds. Anna imagines her landscapes in times before the movements of people - “dreamlike moments, a buzzing sunrise, the slow passage of sunlight across the hillsides and flashes of glittering waterways”. Anna now resides with her family in the Far North of Aotearoa which features predominantly throughout her works.
