Nichola uses Tāniko designs and patterns to represent Papatūānuku (Mother Earth) and whenua (land) in acorrding to Te Ao Maori (The Maori world Veiw)
Nichola’s bold linear aesthetic is inspired by her heritage and upbringing as a woman of Maori and Pakeha descent raised in Kirkiroa (Hamilton). She has been creative all her life. Nichola’s work is continuously evolving in both her practice and design, pushing the boundaries of Aotearoa fashion, jewellery and homeware. She believes in the importance of mahi storytelling, through shared stories the taonga of her work comes alive, creating a unique contemporary Maori Design.
