Give a Gift With Meaning This Christmas With Our Top Store Picks
This year has been a tough year for everyone, everywhere, all around the world. Here at creative & brave, we understand the importance of choosing the right gift for your special someone to show your appreciation of them. As we have been helping our loyal customers make these tough decisions for over 30 years now, we thought we would bring you into the loop of what we believe to be some of our top items this Christmas, to share a little extra love and hope going forward. Our world was turned upside down when we found out we had to briefly shut our doors from the outside world. It’s been a long journey, but we are back in- store and of course online, to bring you an exquisite range of stunning gifts to send out this Christmas!
Top Pick One: Te Huia Cushions
A group close to our hearts is Te Huia, members of the Taumarunui Iwi who established this organisation in an effort to raise funds to send the young boys of the Iwi to the In Zone Educational Program. Growth of this effort has seen the young boys attending schools outside of the district through scholarships for higher education. We love sharing the story of Te Huia not only because we are completely humbled by the collaboration of this group of people, but also because we truly believe that these cushions are a next level gift with deep meaning. If you are looking for a special gift for that person who goes above & beyond for you, then this is the gift for them.
* These items are available in limited quantities in- store ONLY.
Top Pick Two: Painted Pacific Pottery
Chrissie and Charlie Seakins are the masterminds behind PPP- a luscious pottery range made with black sand from Muriwai Beach. Drawing inspiration from our natural environment and perfecting their ceramic art for over 30 years, this Auckland based couple have created memorable and heirloom- worthy pieces to gift to the art or pottery lovers in your life.
Top Pick Three: Framed Art Prints by Angie Dennis
A highly loved and embraced artist here at creative & brave is Angie Dennis- self taught artist based in Auckland. Angie has been painting since 2002, utlising her knowledge in environmental science to nourish her love for New Zealand flora & fauna as inspirations for her artwork. Her work is admired globally and we couldn’t recommend Angie’s work enough. We recommend the framed versions of Angie’s work as the extra detail really enhances the beautiful colours. If you are after a house warming gift, a gift with meaning or something that the whole family can enjoy, look no further!
Top Pick Four: Metal Bird
Another spectacular item that inspires, evolves and shows those receiving the gift that you have put thought into what you have purchased. Metal Bird by Phil Walters was started in 2009 as part of a street art project. Phil utilised his background in industrial design and love for street art, created something original, people fell in love with it, and the rest is history. You have no doubt seen our Metal Bird items in store, online and on our social media- we just can’t get enough! For the gift that keeps on giving, look no further than these 3mm Corten® steel birds that naturally change colour overtime.
Top Pick Five: Toni Tittleton Glass
We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to let you know about Toni’s glass products under Tittleton Glass. Toni doubles as a manager here at creative & brave and uses her spare time to create stunning glass keepsakes. Glass art is a growing profession and we just know that Toni is a key player in leading the way. Toni’s range of glass art and sculptures are extremely delicate pieces of work and the colours she uses make them oh so special. Gift one of her meticulous works of art to a special friend, a hard to buy for sister or a one of a kind teacher.
Top Pick Six: Borrowed Earth
We couldn’t choose just one collection from the gorgeous range of ceramics created by Adele and Richie- the masters behind Borrowed Earth. Each item that they deliver pays fine attention to detail, includes intricate paint lines and always has a meaning and purpose. We love to recommend Borrowed Earth items as gifts as we see nothing sweeter than a handmade ceramic created with so much love, finding its place in someone's home to be cherished forever. Forever perfect and brand new doll vases have just been launched by this unstoppable team- get in quick before they sell out! A widespread crowd favourite and a long time coming to creative & brave, Boh Runga is our latest jewellery addition to our growing selection of delicately hand crafted jewellery items. Top Pick Eight: Shower Bombs by Essentially Tamara
Launching a new and clever concept in 2017, Tamara Bonfante of Essentially Tamara put out shower bombs to the little world of New Zealand. These gorgeous little pods, similar to bath bombs, come in elegant packaging and are so easy to use- simply pop them in the corner of your shower and watch the magic come alive! If you are looking for a little self care gift idea or the perfect stocking stuffer (one made with premium ingredients coming from a strong business with the core value of Kaitiakitanga), look no further than Essentially Tamara. We are now stocking her latest Christmas collection- in stores and online now.
Top Pick Nine: Chunky
Another favourite of ours and maybe one of our most practical recommendations is Chunky!! We adore the creative, funky, and unique drink bottles and coffee cups that this team has brought out. Drink bottles are so practical and never a ‘miss’ gift, especially if you are stuck for ideas for the kids or are in need of a final stocking filler. Each bottle is uniquely designed by a different New Zealand artist, adding a little extra flare and meaning to your gift. As supporters of bringing the creative talents of artists into everyday life in a way that is ‘sustainable’ and ‘reusable’, we guarantee your chunky choice will be a hit this Christmas! *All Chunky bottles are 18/8 double walled stainless steel, 12hrs Hot 24hrs Cold, BPA free inner lid and hand wrapped print of an original artwork.
Top Pick Ten: Tuesday Print
Last but not least, we couldn’t leave out the most important gift suggestion of all… A card! Sometimes words can be the best gift of all and we have the perfect little cards for you to use in your own special way. Designed and printed in New Zealand, Cheryl and her family (the team at Tuesday Print) know how to get such perfect messages across with just the front cover. All cards are blank on the inside for you to leave your everlasting thoughts. Our Tuesday Print cards are a great reminder of home if you are sending them overseas this Christmas, or a great addition to what you may have already purchased.
Don’t forget, these are great for all year round so come and see us in- store or online, and we can suggest the right little parcel for you. We truly hope that you have found some little pockets of inspiration after reading our top picks for finding gifts with meaning this Christmas. We know that buying gifts can be hard at times, but we absolutely believe that there is something for everyone. If you ever get stuck for suggestions, we are always here, ready and waiting. We cant wait to see you soon.
