The Art of Lampworking
Wearing Glass is a traditional glass studio using 2,000-year-old techniques to make modern, handcrafted glass jewellery. Each piece is individually crafted using techniques that date back thousands of years, giving the jewellery a genuine aesthetic that will stand the test of time.
Traditional Methods
Lampworking involves shaping glass using a torch or lamp flame. The artist heats glass rods until malleable, then shapes them using various tools and gravity. This ancient technique allows for incredible detail and colour blending.
Modern Design
While the techniques are ancient, Isla’s designs are thoroughly contemporary. Her graphic design background informs her aesthetic choices, resulting in pieces that feel both timeless and modern.
