Toni is a well established New Zealand glass artist who has exhibited across the country, injected a youthful energy into the art glass community and earned the respect of her peers. Toni is now on the board of the New Zealand Society of Artists in Glass (NZSAG) and works hard to maintain connections among artists and develop platforms for ongoing exhibitions.
From her very first hand made glass blob Toni has been spellbound by the medium. The tiny bubbles in that clear orb propelled her into a creative practice which centers on capturing the magical moment when solid glass transforms into its liquid state. The rising bubbles, the merging of colours and the transparent rivers coursing into the opaque beautifully capture movement in a solid form.
Glass art is understandably rare so we are beyond delighted that she has launched her range with us at Creative & Brave.
OUR STUDIO VISIT: The Tittleton Glass studio is a wee gem nestled in native Waitakere bush. It also sits on land that has been in Toni Tittleton’s family for generations. She grew up here on a massive farm flanked by both her Aunt’s and Grandma’s farms and talks nostalgically about huge family gatherings on the porch only meters away from her self-made container studio.
