Tanya Wolfkamp and Henri Stone are two talented (mostly New Zealand based) artists who share a common passion for the life and works of William Morris (famed British textile designer). Tanya’s experience ranges from set and mural painting to textile design - Her approach is as broad as the imagery she chooses to illustrate, which helps when having such a diverse range of techniques to draw on! In 2012 they began a collaboration which has jointly produced some striking, much loved works - featuring classic floral designs, with native flora and fauna of Aotearoa incorporated beautifully. “Even though it’s not always immediately apparent, we are surrounded by beauty. And we aren’t creating much ourselves that doesn’t play second fiddle to nature. My own way of second fiddling is to preserve certain details”. While Tanya works daily at her Waiheke Island studio, Henri is a more restless soul flitting constantly between Auckland and Melbourne.
